In the 1920's Sedel'nikov was employed by the state publishing house (Gozisdat) as a typographer, and performed various functions as an editor and designer. In the 1930s he honed his skills as a book and magazine designer. His work, which incorporated photography and hand-painting, was included in book exhibitions, and most recently in "The Russian Avant-Garde Book," at the Museum of Modern Art, in 2002.
